Alex Rocca
Textile artist & Designer
Curitiba, Brasil
Alex Rocca, a visual artist and textile designer from Curitiba, has built an artistic path that bridges the tradition of handcrafted art with the pursuit of new narratives. Through various textures and materials, his works carry cultural and aesthetic meanings rooted in Afro-Brazilian ancestry and symbolisms connected to African-origin cultures, traditions, and religions.

Background
In a constant dialogue between past and present, Rocca makes textile art his creative universe, constructed through research and experimentation. Thread, the main raw material of his work, is incorporated into cotton fabrics, ramie, sisal, knits, and other media such as copper, wood, stones, and brass.
The unique way the artist guides the threads—through a process of intuition and technical precision—has led him to important art spaces in Brazil and countries like Russia and Italy. With versatility and a plurality of ideas, Alex weaves poetic narratives using his background in art direction for film and advertising, scenography, and interior design.
